Esprit de Bigot in Jiyugaoka

Esprit de Bigot in Jiyugaoka_a0097015_126167.jpg

I came to the Bigot bakery and café in Jiyugaoka for café au lait and
some pastries in one afternoon. I tried their pear tart and chocolate
croissant. Jiyugaoka is so close to Shibuya, one of the busiest areas in Tokyo, yet the 10-minute ride on the Toyoko-line train takes you to a
charming neighborhood that offers you a feeling as if you were in a
small town within Tokyo. When I lived in Jiyugaoka in 2004, my
apartment was conveniently located right next to this bakery/café and
I used to go there very often. As I walked into the store, the smell of
freshly-baked bread and pastries made me nostalgic about those good
old days. There is a billboard-like sign in front of the store and it shows
a picture of Bigot, the award-winning French pastry chef, along with
the store name “Esprit de Bigot.” For some reason, this bearded face
invites me to a wonderful dessert experience.
